Western Australia: AVK Flow Control supplies Wouter Witzel Butterfly Valves for a project of improving drinking water quality, and maintaining an efficient supply of water resources throughout the year
Water Corporation is a state government owned entity and is accountable for the minister for water, principal supplier of water, wastewater, and drainage services in Western Australia. They deliver water to hundreds of thousands of homes, businesses and farms, and provide bulk water to farms for irrigation. Their services, projects, and activities span over 2.6 million square kilometres.
Water Corporation is in the practical completion stage on a major upgrade for the rural town of Collie, in the south west of Western Australia. An 8 kilometre pipeline has been under development from the southern end of Stirling Dam, where it was connected to an existing pipeline to the north west of Harris Dam. The project was implemented to improve the town’s quality of drinking water, and to maintain an efficient supply of resources within the dry months. AVK Flow Control supplied 6x Wouter Witzel Butterfly Valves ranging from a minimum of DN700 to a maximum of DN900.
The valves were manufactured to Australian standards and designed to provide a resourceful flow and transfer of water, thus ensuring the sustainability of Harris Dam. The specifications of the installation required customised electronic actuators which could be monitored and controlled from remote locations around Australia when water levels reach critical points.
