From an idea to a shared passion
Aarhus Tech Racing began as an idea among a group of students at Aarhus Tech who wanted something that could unite them outside the classroom. They were eager to create something different, something that would foster a strong sense of community while also inspiring other young people to pursue a vocational education. Sharing a passion for motorsport, their initial idea was to assemble a team to compete in "Folkerace", a form of racing open to anyone with an interest in motorsport. At its heart, Aarhus Tech Racing is about community. The students meet regularly outside their studies to work on the project, solve challenges together, and learn from one another. Through shared experiences, they have built a strong team spirit that extends far beyond the workshop and racetrack. It is important to the team that everyone has a role to play. Whether working on the car, helping organise activities, or supporting the project in other ways, every contribution helps move the team forward.
Turning ambition into reality
What started with a race car and a handful of enthusiastic students quickly developed into a serious project. The team spent months repairing, rebuilding, and preparing their car while gaining valuable experience in mechanics, planning, collaboration, and perseverance. Their growing ambitions also required a significantly larger budget. Through extensive research, fundraising, and determination, they secured support from companies and foundations that believed in their vision, including sponsorship from AVK.
More than financial support
A key part of the team's success has been the support from AVK, not only financially but also through access to valuable networks and opportunities. AVK has helped open doors, expanded the team's network, and supported the continued development of the project. Through sponsorship and collaboration, AVK has contributed to creating opportunities that allow the students to learn, grow, and pursue their ambitions.
Danish Champions in their debut season
The effort has already produced impressive results. During their debut season in the Danish Endurance Championship, the team competed at circuits including Jyllandsringen, Ring Djursland, and Padborg Park. What began as a learning journey developed into a remarkable achievement when the team secured the Danish Championship title in DEC Class 1 by the narrowest of margins: just half a point.
Building skills for life
Aarhus Tech Racing is about far more than motorsport. It is important to the team that the project is inclusive and that everyone involved has something meaningful to contribute. After all, the goal extends far beyond simply racing quickly around a circuit. It is also about helping students develop skills, confidence, and experiences that will benefit them throughout their lives.
