Science Day 2026
Once again, this year, we are participating in the national campaign Science Day. 30-09-2026
The campaign aims to promote career opportunities within the educational fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Therefore, 60 students from a local school have visited us for a full day of career presentations, fun, learnings, and hands-on tasks at our AVK Academy and Visitor Centre in Denmark.
To kick off the day, the students were introduced to AVK, our products and the impact our solutions have around the world by our Public Affairs student assistant, Alma Brinck Røen.
Alma also spoke about her studies in Business and Water Technology at Erhvervsakademi Aarhus, offering the students a personal insight into a field where business and water expertise go hand in hand. The programme itself was initiated with support from AVK and remains an important part of our commitment to developing future talent for the water industry.
Career Insights from AVK
To give the students an insight into what a career at AVK can look like, Lars Reinhard Rasmussen, Product Manager, AVK Smart Water, shared his personal career journey and his work within Smart Water. He explained how digital solutions can help water utilities monitor and manage their networks more efficiently, reducing water loss and securing water resources for the future.Lars also took the students for a show-and-tell tour in our Show Lab, where it is possible to see demonstrations of how our smart devices work "in action".
From Ideas to water solutions
After the career presentations and tour, the students went for an interactive product hunt in our showroom full of valves and hydrants.
The day concluded with a hands-on team challenge designed to put their new knowledge into practice. Working together, the students were tasked with developing a sustainable and reliable water supply solution capable of addressing real-life challenges such as flooding, drought, and pollution. The exercise encouraged the students to think creatively, collaborate, and apply what they had learned throughout the day.
We hope the visit has inspired the students and given them a greater understanding of water, valves, and global challenges, and how they can be addressed through the use of proper water management solutions.
What is Science Day?
The campaign is a yearly event which aims to inspire more young people to choose an education in the field of science, technology, engineering and math. It is established by The House of Natural Sciences (Danish: Naturvidenskabernes Hus) which is a private, non-profit organisation that bridges the gap between schools and companies and support teachers in the development of inspiring and application-oriented teaching.
