Advanced Water Cycle Management Course 2026: Two Weeks of Learning, Innovation and Collaboration
On 9 August, we were excited to once again welcome a large group of participants to this year’s Advanced Water Cycle Management Course. At Låsby Kro, 37 participants from around the world came together, ready to dedicate two weeks to learning more about water. 24-08-2026
Bridging the gap between theory and real-world application
During the two-week course, the participants learn about and explore Denmark’s holistic approach to the water circle, and get familiar with Danish innovations within water distribution, wastewater management, resource recovery, and water resource management.
The course programme is a combination of classroom teaching and teamwork as well as company and utility visits, networking initiatives and social activities - a mix that many of the participants point out as the key advantage of the course.
Getting to know AVK
On August 13, we had the pleasure of welcoming the participants for an afternoon packed with engaging activities and valuable insights into our area of expertise: quality valves in their many forms and applications.
During the visit, the participants experienced our showroom, where they explored a wide range of AVK products and solutions. Afterwards, the participants took part in a hands-on exercise, where they were challenged to identify and distinguish between different types of valves, including butterfly, gate, check, and control valves. By examining the valves up close, they learned about their unique functions and how they contribute to reliable water infrastructure around the world.
They also gained insight into the innovative rainwater reuse project in Nye, Aarhus, where rainwater, collected from across the entire urban development area, is treated at a treatment facility before being distributed through a separate pipe network for use in toilet flushing, laundry, and other household applications within the residential area.
AVK has contributed both products and expertise to the project, helping establish a system with separate underground pipe networks to manage different qualities of water safely and efficiently.
Exploring Smart Water solutions
On 18 August, Gerner Knudsen visited the participants at Låsby Kro and shared his insights into smart water solutions and the optimisation of water networks. Drawing on examples from across the water sector, he highlighted how innovative technologies can help reduce water losses, improve efficiency, and create value for utilities and communities around the world.
The session also sparked valuable discussions among participants, who exchanged their own experiences and perspectives.
The Next Generation of Water Professionals
With diplomas in hand and new connections and knowledge gained, the participants left Låsby on August 21, ready to go out and influence the water industry in each their part of the world.
